The First Step
Contact me to check date availability and arrange a time for us to meet.
Together we will discuss:
• Legal requirements for Marriage •
Before you marry the law requires that you lodge and sign with me a Notice of Intended Marriage. This must be submitted no more than 18 months and no less than one calendar month and one day prior to your wedding. (Link to NOIM)
If you are Australian born you will need to show me your original birth certificate, or extract.
If you have been previously married you must also show evidence of the dissolution of your marriage. i.e. Divorce Decree or Death Certificate.
Both parties must be over 18 years of age.
For specific information relating to overseas couples wanting to marry in Australia please contact me.
• Your individual needs and the kind of ceremony you would like •
Your ceremony should be unique and individual just as your relationship is. I design each ceremony around your personal needs and wants. No two ceremonies are the same.
You may also want to include a specific ceremony (i.e. hand fasting, sand, butterfly release or candle lighting), a ritual or tradition that is significant to you. These may include family members or friends that are important to your day.
I also have a selection of vows, readings and poetry for you to choose from that we can incorporate into your ceremony should you wish.
My intention is to create an intimate, unique and relaxed ceremony that represents you both as individuals and your relationship.
• My fee and its inclusions •
My fee includes:
- Lodgement of all paperwork to Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages
- Solemnisation of marriage including researching and writing a personalised ceremony of your choice
- Provision of PA system including CD player (if required)
- Provision of bridal table, tablecloth and 2 chairs for signing of registry (if required)
- Travel expenses incurred in relation to the ceremony including the rehearsal (up to 50 kms)
At this stage, if you are happy to proceed with confirming me as your chosen celebrant, and you have all the required documentation available, we can complete the Notice of Intended Marriage at the completion of this meeting.

The Next Step
We may need to meet in person for a second time where we will:
- Complete of the Notice of Intended Marriage with all required paperwork sighted (if this hasn't already been done in the initial meeting).
- Make a final decision on vows, readings, inclusions in ceremony in order for celebrant to prepare.
This communication can also be done by email and phone. Once I have completed your draft ceremony I will email it to you for review. You may wish to make amendments at this stage.
The Final Step
I will contact you at least two weeks prior to your wedding to make a time for you to sign the declaration on the back of the official marriage certificate. This is a legal requirement and MUST be completed before the ceremony can take place.
Rehearsal (if required)
After the ceremony you will receive your official Certificate of Marriage Presentation Certificate. I would also recommend visiting the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages in Perth after you are married to obtain a registered copy of your Marriage Certificate and make an official change of name (if you are changing your surname). This will save any issues later if you wish to obtain a passport in your married name.
Things to consider
Ceremony venues
There are many beautiful places to choose from to marry in Western Australia. Beaches, Parks, Boats, Gardens, on a Cruise ship or even in your own backyard. It's important to check with the local council with any park or beach weddings. They usually have strict guidelines for weddings and there may be a fee payable to confirm the location. Ensure you always have a back-up in case of rain. You may also want to try something different for your ceremony like sky-diving, hot air ballooning or scuba diving!
Music will play an important role in your ceremony. We will discuss together the music you will need to prepare and supply. This really personalises your ceremony even more and choosing songs that are significant to you both is a beautiful way to make the ceremony even more special and personalised.
